The message of repentance and restoration in Malachi

We’re beginning a new series this weekend focused on the message of repentance and restoration found throughout the book of Malachi.

At the end of the Old Testament, we find God’s people have become casual about their relationship with the Lord. There is no seriousness, no reverence in their approach to Him and they have begun to treat His gracious offerings half-heartedly. Even the priests in Malachi's time appear to be content with ugly lukewarm living and offering God their leftovers. Really at the heart of it is God’s people questioning His love and faithfulness towards them. Sound familiar?

It’s here that the book of Malachi becomes a wake-up call for the Israelites and for us! Malachi, as a messenger from the Lord, calls his people to return to God, that He might restore them to Himself, giving them favour, blessing, and much fruit. Once again the Lord meets us with a timely word within urgent times. Have you grown distant from the Lord? It's time to return to Him!
